Press Notes for 11/7/2011 press conference in Myrtle Beach
The Collegiate Development Football League (CDFL) is proud to present the 2011 “FCS Senior Scout Bowl.” in the great city of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on Saturday December 17th at Doug Shaw Stadium, 1pm kickoff. This game serves to showcase the graduating senior talent of FCS level of NCAA football along the gridiron passion and hospitality of the City of Myrtle Beach and it’s fans. At the close of the 2011 season, up to ninety players will comprise two teams in a North vs. South all-star game format. The selected players will have earned the right to play against their peers in this showcase game. Last year the South staged a late fourth quarter drive engineered by Coastal Carolina quarterback, Zach McDowell to defeat the North 13-12.
South wins 2010 FCS Senior Bowl on Late Drive,13-12
The Inaugural FCS Senior Scout Bowl was won with a late Drive by the South squad , capped by a 6 yard scoring pass from Quarterback Zach McDowell ( Coastal Carolina ) to Gerald Stevenson (Charleston Southern) with 1 minute remaining in the game. The North captured a 12-7 margin with 5:17 remaining in the 4th quarter when place-kicker Joe Izzo ( Central Connecticut State) hit a 36 yard field goal, Izzo accounted for all of the North scoring with a 4 for 4 day consisting of 30, 36,25, 36 yard field goals. Sean Jeffcoat (Elon) became the first player in the Senior Scout Bowl history to score a touchdown with his nifty 65 yard kickoff return in the first quarter, staking the South to a 7-3 lead at the time.
The North ball control offense accounted for 15 first downs and 159 yards rushing lead by the trio of Darrius Gates (Indiana State) Miles Russ (Robert Morris) and Ty Batts(Gannon). They controlled the Ball for 39:26 and ran 71 offensive plays ,compared to the South with 20:34 and 44 offensive plays. The South passing attack was anchored by the the performance of quarterback Zach McDowell, ( 17/28, 176 yards and one TD pass) who engineered the final scoring drive with completions to Stevenson, Jeffcoat, and Armond Smith (Union).
Defensively the North was led by a standout performance by linebacker Mike Schmidlein, (Lafayette). Mike had a game leading 11 solo tackles, 2 TFL and a forced fumble. Ross Cochran, LB (North Dakota) accounted for 5 tackles and Jason Riffe (Bryant) had 4 tackles and a key 4th quarter interception. The South defensive team was lead by defensive lineman Jason Gaines (Samford) who had 10 tackles and 1 TFL. DB Markkus Davis( Mississippi Valley State) added 8 tackles. Dominique Davenport, Safety (Coastal Carolina) had an outstanding day with 7 solo tackles, 4 for a loss, and an interception.

The following players have been selected as 2011 preseason football All-Americans by the FCS Senior Scout Bowl selection committee. The FCS Senior Scout Bowl is a post season all-star game showcasing the talent of senior players from the NCAA FCS Division (formally 1-AA ) football level. This Bowl game is presented by the Collegiate Development Football League (www.playCDFL.com) and will be held December 17, 2011 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Player selections for this showcase game begin with the announcement of the FCS Senior Scout Bowl All-American team. This preseason All American team recognizes the football achievements of senior players who are entering their final season on the FCS level. The FCS Senior Scout Bowl selection committee will review player performance throughout the 2011 season and are committed to bring 90 of the top players to the 2011 FCS Scout Bowl
Bowl co-founder, Peter St. Lawrence, stated the following during his August 9, 2011 press conference,” We are proud and excited to present the second annual scout bowl for the players on the FCS level”, ” Last year, the FCS Senior Scout Bowl showcased the outstanding talent, quality, and character of football players found on the FCS Level.” “The announcement today of our FCS preseason All-American team, along with our established D3 Senior Classic game, our D2 vs. NAIA Bowl, and the CDFL reflects our continued commitment to recognize and promote the outstanding players found in college football beyond the BCS level”. Peter St. Lawrence added,” The FCS Senior Scout Bowl selection committee will work diligently during the upcoming months, to seek the most talented and deserving players, for selection, from the graduating class of 2012. “

Daily Practice and Event Itinerary
ITINERARY- The following is general/tentative information for players, scouts, fans, and media in planning for the events leading up to the 2nd Annual FCS Senior Scout Bowl in Myrtle, Beach, S.C. on Saturday 12/17/11, 2 pm kick-off (note all practices at Doug Shaw Stadium are open to the media and public)
- Wednesday12/14/11- Player, coach arrival and Check-in at Sheraton Convention Center Hotel in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. 6:00pm registration followed by “Meet and greet” player and coach’s organizational meeting in main hotel conference room.
- Thursday 12/15/11- Breakfast7:00-8:30am- Bus to field 8:45am Practice session #1- 9-12:00pm at Doug Shaw Stadium, lunch break, 12:00-1:15 at hotel. Practice session #2, 2-4:30pm.at Doug Shaw stadium. Practice session #3-team meetings in hotel as needed.
- Friday 12/9/11-Breakfast 7:00-8:30am- Bus to field 8:45am Practice session #4- 9-12:00pm at Doug Shaw Stadium, lunch break, 12:15-1:15 at hotel. Practice session #5 2-4:30pm. at Shaw Stadium.

The Executive Committee of the FCS Senior Scout Bowl is proud to announce that the Sheraton Convention Center Hotel in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina will host the players and coaches for the 2011 FCS Senior Scout Bowl. The City of Myrtle Beach is the perfect setting to showcase the talented senior players of the 2011 FCS football season. The Sheraton is the Official hotel and headquarters for the 2011 FCS Senior Scout Bowl. All players are expected to stay at this hotel to assist in player transport to and from practices, lodging convenience, and meals. Hotel amenities include an indoor pool, high-speed Internet access, and a fitness center.
